What Friday changed
Highland, Dover and O’Neill have clinched Class C playoff places following O’Neill’s 35–14 win over Spackenkill and Dover’s 28–12 win over Rondout Valley. Highland’s Saturday rivalry game at Marlboro affects its overall record, with Class C seeding still open.
Sullivan West beat Fallsburg 30–0 on Friday. Its Division 1 playoff watch carries into Eldred–Rockland Central at 7 p.m.

1 p.m.: Highland at Marlboro — the Black and Blue Bowl
Highland enters 4–1 after a 31–14 win over Dover. Marlboro is 2–2 after beating Red Hook 32–20. This rivalry gives both teams a chance to carry a good result into the next part of October.
Highland is in Class C and Marlboro is in Class B. This game affects their full season records, but it does not count toward either team’s playoff qualification record. The rivalry matters without needing a clinching claim attached to it.
1 p.m.: New Paltz at Liberty — somebody gets a first win
Both teams enter 0–5. New Paltz scored 34 first-half points against Beacon last week before losing 63–34. Liberty lost 24–22 to Monticello.
There is a clear opportunity here: turn a competitive stretch into a complete game and leave with the season’s first win. This is a same-class Class B matchup, so the result also counts in the playoff qualification record.
1 p.m.: Pawling at Onteora — the unbeaten road test
Pawling brings a 4–0 record into Onteora after beating Pine Plains/Rhinebeck 62–20. Onteora enters 2–2 following a 28–26 win over Ellenville.
The Tigers have another chance to keep their unbeaten season moving. Onteora gets an opportunity to build on a close win against a team that has been scoring heavily. Follow the Game Center for the current division race and what this result would change.
7 p.m.: Eldred at Rockland Central — Division 1 position is at stake
This is a 7 p.m. kickoff. Eldred enters 2–2 after beating Fallsburg 28–12. Rockland Central is 1–3 after losing 22–12 to Tri-Valley.
This same-division game counts toward the eight-man playoff race. Neither team clinches simply by winning this matchup. The Game Center shows the current standings and win/loss scenarios, including changes from other Week 5 results.

7 p.m.: Burke Catholic at Chester — a look at the Class D matchup
Burke Catholic enters unbeaten at 5–0. Chester is 2–3 after finishing a late drive to beat Spackenkill 31–25.
Both teams already have places in the two-team Class D championship field. Saturday is not a win-to-enter playoff game. It is a direct meeting that can shape the conversation about their next matchup, with Burke trying to preserve its unbeaten record and Chester trying to build on last week’s finish.
