Class C: the field is set, the seeds are not
O’Neill won 35–14 at Spackenkill, and Dover beat Rondout Valley 28–12. Both results were needed for the combined clinching scenario, and both came through. Highland, Dover and O’Neill have secured the three Class C playoff places. Spackenkill and Rondout are eliminated.
O’Neill returns to the playoffs for the first time since 2023. The Raiders improve to 4–2 overall; Dover is 4–1. There is still a race for position among the three qualifiers. Read the updated clinching story →
Middletown and Newburgh set up next Friday
Middletown beat Valley Central 29–7 to reach 6–0. Newburgh Free Academy won 48–13 at Pine Bush and improved to 5–1. Both handled their Week 5 tests before their scheduled October 16 meeting in Middletown.
Valley Central falls to 4–2, and Pine Bush is 1–5. Friday strengthened the case for the two teams at the top of the current Power 40. Their direct meeting will give us the comparison the schedule has been building toward.
Monroe-Woodbury gets its first win
The Crusaders beat Kingston 31–22 to move to 1–5. Monroe led 17–0 at halftime, but Kingston brought it back within two points in the fourth quarter. Monroe finished with a nine-point win; Kingston falls to 2–4.
That is a result Monroe needed after an 0–5 start. It also gives the Crusaders a completed Class AA win as the qualification race continues.
Washingtonville and Lourdes keep moving; Cornwall reaches .500
Washingtonville beat Wallkill 35–7. Lourdes beat Minisink Valley 47–14. Both winners are 5–1, and Lourdes paired another big scoring night with a much better defensive result after allowing 35 to Warwick last week.
Cornwall beat Warwick 50–6 to reach 3–3. The Dragons have scored 99 points across their last two games. Goshen responded to last week’s loss with a 44–21 win at FDR and improved to 5–1.
These four Class A games were division crossovers. They change full season records, but do not count toward the same-division qualification records that decide the Class A playoff races. See both records and the tiebreakers →
Monticello stacks wins; Port puts up 56
Monticello won 22–8 at Poughkeepsie, following last week’s 24–22 win over Liberty. The Panthers are 2–4 after an 0–4 start. Back-to-back wins are a meaningful step for a program trying to build sustained progress. Poughkeepsie falls to 0–6.
Port Jervis beat Red Hook 56–7 to reach 4–2. Port has outscored Saugerties and Red Hook 89–7 across its last two games. Red Hook falls to 2–4.
Ellenville reaches 3–3; Sullivan West shuts out Fallsburg
Ellenville beat Millbrook/Webutuck 28–8 and moved to 3–3. Millbrook/Webutuck is 3–2. Sullivan West won 30–0 at Fallsburg and improved to 4–1; Fallsburg is 0–6.
Sullivan West’s playoff watch now carries into Saturday’s Eldred–Rockland Central game. The current race and remaining scenarios are available in the Playoff Lab.
