Ellenville Held Millbrook to Eight. That Is the Friday Result to Look Closer At.

Ellenville’s 28–8 win brought the Blue Devils to 3–3 and gave them their lowest points allowed of the season. Pawling is next.

Ellenville’s Friday result deserves more than a line on the scoreboard. The Blue Devils beat Millbrook/Webutuck 28–8, reached 3–3 and held an opponent to their lowest scoring total of the season.

Coach I picked Millbrook. Ellenville supplied the only result that went against the picks across Thursday and Friday. The eight points allowed are the part that makes this performance stand out.

The scoring trend changed

Opponent Ellenville points allowed Result
Fallsburg 20 Won 54–20
Sullivan West 56 Lost 56–18
Eldred 34 Lost 34–0
Pine Plains/Rhinebeck 30 Won 44–30
Onteora 28 Lost 28–26
Millbrook/Webutuck 8 Won 28–8

Ellenville had allowed at least 28 points in each of its previous four games. Those opponents scored 148 combined, an average of 37. Millbrook/Webutuck finished with eight.

The final score establishes that improvement. A fuller explanation of how Ellenville produced it needs the team’s game statistics and play details. The result already gives us a clear reason to keep watching.

A close loss became a clear win

Last week, Ellenville lost 28–26 at Onteora. This week, the Blue Devils scored almost the same number themselves and reduced the opponent’s total by 20.

That matters in a Division 2 race where points and possessions can pile up quickly. Ellenville showed it could win a game without needing 44 or 54 points, the totals from its first two victories.

Millbrook/Webutuck falls to 3–2. Ellenville has now beaten Fallsburg, Pine Plains/Rhinebeck and Millbrook/Webutuck.

The next challenge is Pawling

Ellenville is scheduled to visit Pawling on Friday, October 16, at 7 p.m. Pawling enters its own Week 5 game at Onteora unbeaten at 4–0; Saturday’s result will complete the picture before the Blue Devils visit.

Friday’s win does not secure Ellenville a playoff place. It improves its position and puts a much better points-allowed result on the board before another same-division test.
