There are 13 Friday matchups on the Week 4 schedule, followed by seven Saturday games. Monticello opened the week Thursday with a 24–22 win over Liberty.

Send score updates with both teams, the score, quarter and time remaining. Include the final score when the game ends.

Thursday belonged to Monticello.

The Panthers broke through for their first win of the season, holding off Liberty 24-22 behind long touchdown runs from Kavon Cox and Tahir Atkins.

Now the rest of Section IX gets its turn.

Friday’s slate starts at 6:00 PM and stretches through a loaded 7:00 window, with undefeated teams defending their starts, contenders trying to recover from losses and several games carrying immediate playoff implications.

Middletown takes 4-0 into Pine Bush

#1 Middletown remains the team everyone is chasing.

The Middies are 4-0 after victories over Arlington, Cornwall, Minisink Valley and Port Jervis, but Friday sends them on the road to face #11 Pine Bush.

Middletown has handled every challenge so far, but this is also the kind of game that can test an undefeated team’s focus.

The Middies have bigger games ahead.

First, they have to get through Friday.

Monroe-Woodbury has reached response time

There may not be a team under more pressure Friday than #12 Monroe-Woodbury.

The Crusaders enter 0-4 and now travel to Academy Field to face #2 Newburgh Free Academy.

Newburgh is coming off one of the biggest results of Week 3 — a 31-0 victory over Cornwall.

For Monroe, the conversation is no longer about a difficult opening schedule. The Crusaders need something positive to happen.

And Newburgh is not exactly offering an easy place to find it.

Cornwall and Minisink meet again

#5 Cornwall at #8 Minisink Valley gives Friday another top-10 matchup.

Cornwall enters 1-3 and is coming off that 31-0 loss to Newburgh. For a program accustomed to controlling the Section IX conversation, Friday becomes a major response game.

Minisink enters 2-2 after beating Monroe-Woodbury 21-6 last week.

There is history here, too.

The KOT845 archive has Cornwall holding a narrow 17-16 documented series advantage over Minisink entering the latest meeting.

One game separates the series.

And both teams have plenty to play for beyond history.

Washingtonville gets undefeated Goshen

This may be the most intriguing matchup on the board.

#3 Washingtonville travels to face #9 Goshen, which enters Friday 4-0.

Washingtonville has already proven it belongs near the top of the rankings. Goshen has spent the first month doing the same thing through wins.

Friday gives both programs a chance to strengthen their argument.

For Goshen, especially, another win would make an undefeated start increasingly difficult to treat as simply an early-season story.

Valley Central and Kingston meet in another top-10 test

#7 Valley Central travels to #10 Kingston in a matchup between two teams sitting directly in the middle of the upper tier.

Valley Central enters 3-1.

Kingston is 2-2.

With the Power 40 beginning to tighten behind the top group, this is exactly the type of game that can create movement by Saturday morning.

Dover and Highland collide in Class C

The Power 40 is only part of this one.

#18 Dover travels to #21 Highland with major Class C implications attached.

Dover enters 3-0.

Highland is 3-1.

Both have been near the top of the Class C conversation, making Friday one of the most important games on that classification’s schedule to date.

This is the kind of matchup that can matter much more in November than it appears to in early October.

Beacon tries to stay perfect

#13 Beacon takes its 4-0 record to New Paltz.

The Bulldogs are no longer sneaking up on anyone.

Beacon already has wins over O’Neill, Red Hook and Marlboro among its early results and has steadily forced its way into the larger Section IX conversation.

Now comes another test of something every emerging contender eventually has to handle:

winning when people expect you to win.

Lourdes heads to Warwick

#4 Our Lady of Lourdes enters Friday 3-1 and travels to face #16 Warwick.

The Warriors have been one of Section IX’s highest-scoring teams during stretches of the opening month, while Warwick is still searching for its first victory.

The records point in opposite directions.

That does not make Friday meaningless.

For Lourdes, this is another opportunity to stay attached to the top of the Power 40. For Warwick, it is another chance to change the direction of the season.

And the night goes deeper than the rankings

Rondout Valley and O’Neill meet with Class C positioning at stake.

Wallkill and FDR enter their matchup at 2-2.

Pawling puts its unbeaten start on the line against Pine Plains/Rhinebeck.

Millbrook travels to Taconic Hills.

Fallsburg visits Eldred in another Eight-Man matchup.

That is what Week 4 has become.

The season is no longer brand new.

Teams have records. Rankings have movement. Playoff races are beginning to take shape. And every Friday result now carries a little more weight than the one before it.

Week 4 is officially here.
