Pawling and Millbrook Take Their Unbeaten Starts on the Road

Pawling visits Pine Plains/Rhinebeck and Millbrook heads to Taconic Hills at 7 p.m. Friday. Both bring 3–0 records, but the tests are different.

Pawling and Millbrook have each won their first three games. Friday asks both to keep it going away from home.

Pawling visits Pine Plains/Rhinebeck, while Millbrook/Webutuck travels to Taconic Hills. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, October 2, on the Section Nine Football Week 4 slate.

The matching 3–0 records give the night a common theme. The opponents and recent performances give each game its own story.

Pawling meets a Pine Plains/Rhinebeck team that can score

Pawling’s three wins have come against Eldred, Sullivan West and Corinth/Hadley-Luzerne. The Tigers have outscored those opponents 118–36, averaging 39.3 points while allowing 12 per game in the KOT845 matchup breakdown.

Pine Plains/Rhinebeck enters 2–1 after a 44–30 loss to Ellenville. The Bombers have scored at least 30 points in each of their three games, so Friday is not simply a question of whether Pawling can keep producing points. It is also a test of whether the Tigers can continue limiting an opponent’s scoring.

The available series history favors Pawling, including shutout wins in 2024 and 2025. That establishes recent context, not a result for this year’s teams.

For the Bombers, a home win would do more than repair last week’s loss. It would bring them level with Pawling at 3–1 overall and give them a league victory against the Tigers.

Millbrook follows a shootout with a different road test

Millbrook stayed unbeaten by defeating Onteora 52–46 last week, following wins over Fallsburg and Tri-Valley. The Blazers have scored 132 points in three games, an average of 44.

That offense has given Millbrook room to win different kinds of games. Last week also showed how quickly a strong scoring night can become a narrow finish when the opponent keeps answering.

The Millbrook–Taconic Hills Game Center records a 36–24 Millbrook victory in their 2025 meeting. Taconic Hills is listed at 2–1 on the current MaxPreps matchup page.

Millbrook’s assignment is to turn its offensive production into another road result without assuming it can simply outscore every opponent. Whether the Blazers can create more defensive separation than they did against Onteora is one of Friday’s useful questions.

Two unbeaten records, two different stakes

Section Nine Football marks Pawling–Pine Plains/Rhinebeck as a league matchup. Millbrook–Taconic Hills is listed without the league designation. The games share a place on Friday’s Eight-Man schedule, but should not be presented as identical league or playoff situations.

For both unbeaten teams, the immediate goal is straightforward: leave with a fourth win. For the hosts, Friday is an opportunity to make sure those perfect starts do not survive the trip.
