Friday is finished. Week 3 is not.
All 12 Friday finals are in, and Saturday now gets the stage. Five games remain to be played across the Section IX board, led by two of the region’s signature rivalries: Port Jervis–Middletown for the Erie Bell and Goshen–Warwick for the Spirit Trophy.

10:00 AM — Goshen at Warwick
Goshen (3-0) at Warwick (0-3)
This is bigger than the records. The rivalry dates to 1896, and the Spirit Trophy has been part of it since 1975. Goshen enters 3-0 and still holding the trophy after beating Warwick 35-26 in the 2025 regular-season Spirit Trophy game. Warwick later won the Class A quarterfinal rematch 29-6, but that playoff did not transfer the trophy. So Saturday creates two very different kinds of pressure: Goshen can protect a perfect start and prove the trophy still belongs on its side; Warwick is 0-3, at home, with a chance to make its first win of 2026 the one that takes the Spirit Trophy back. In a rivalry this old, the records only tell part of the story.

1:00 PM — Port Jervis at Middletown
Port Jervis (2-1) at Middletown (3-0)
Meeting No. 148. Erie Bell No. 72. And Friday night just added another layer. Newburgh walked into Cornwall and won 31-0. Middletown already owns a 22-21 win over Cornwall this season, but now the No. 1 Middies have seen another top Section IX team make a major statement against that same opponent. Saturday gives unbeaten Middletown its own stage to answer — in the rivalry game it has been waiting to get back.
Port Jervis has a comparison point of its own. The Raiders beat Marlboro 21-6 last week. Friday, Beacon moved to 4-0 by beating Marlboro 12-6 after keeping the Dukes off the board until the closing minutes. Those common-opponent scores do not decide anything Saturday, but they add to the pressure surrounding two teams that both have something to prove. Middletown wants the Bell back. Port Jervis has it and gets a chance to show why.
The largest documented crowd in the modern KOT845 notes is 4,850 for the 2014 “Middletown Miracle.” Saturday’s game at Faller Field is the centerpiece of the afternoon.

1:00 PM — Fallsburg at Tri-Valley
Fallsburg (0-3) at Tri-Valley (1-1)
An 8-Man league game gives Fallsburg another opportunity to find its first win while Tri-Valley tries to build on a 1-1 start.
1:00 PM — Corinth/Hadley-Luzerne at Pawling
Corinth/Hadley-Luzerne at Pawling (2-0)
Pawling enters unbeaten for a cross-section 8-Man matchup. Because the opponent is outside the Section IX program database, KOT845 will keep the Game Center clearly labeled until a result is confirmed.
5:00 PM — Liberty at Red Hook
Liberty (0-3) at Red Hook (1-2) — Dietz Stadium
The final scheduled kickoff of Week 3 gives Liberty a chance to break into the win column while Red Hook looks for its second victory.
Two Saturday games will not be played
James I. O’Neill over Poughkeepsie by forfeit. Section Nine Football lists the game as a forfeit win for O’Neill. KOT845 records the outcome as a forfeit rather than an on-field score.
Rockland Central over Hoosic Valley by forfeit. That result is also recorded as not played.
What Friday changed
Saturday does not begin in a vacuum. Friday raised the standard. Newburgh ended its long Cornwall drought with a 31-0 shutout. Beacon moved to 4-0. Burke Catholic turned a matchup of unbeatens into a 52-6 statement. Dover moved to 3-0. Washingtonville answered Pine Bush and moved to 3-1.
Now the teams playing Saturday get their turn. Middletown has watched Newburgh make noise and gets the Erie Bell stage at 3-0. Port Jervis watched another unbeaten team beat Marlboro one week after the Raiders did it themselves. Goshen can move to 4-0 while defending the Spirit Trophy. Warwick can make an 0-3 start feel very different with one rivalry win. Friday created the comparisons. Saturday gets to answer them.
