Week 4 Is Here: 21 Games Put Section IX Into October

Week 4 opens Thursday with Monticello at Liberty at 6:30 PM, followed by 13 Friday games and seven Saturday matchups.

Week 3 changed the board. Week 4 takes Section IX into October.

KOT845 currently has 21 Week 4 games on the football schedule — one on Thursday, October 1, 13 on Friday, October 2 and seven on Saturday, October 3. Monticello at Liberty opens the week tonight at 6:30 PM. The first month gave us enough information to stop guessing. Now the schedule starts asking harder questions.

Thursday opens the week

Monticello at Liberty — Thursday, October 1, 6:30 PM, Liberty Central High School. Both teams enter 0-4. One gets a chance to change the direction of its season before the rest of the Week 4 slate begins.

The Friday board

  • Middletown at Pine Bush — Middletown is 4-0 after reclaiming the Erie Bell with a 28-7 win over Port Jervis. Pine Bush is 1-3 after scoring 28 in a loss at Washingtonville.
  • Monroe-Woodbury at Newburgh Free Academy — Newburgh enters at 3-1 after shutting out Cornwall 31-0. Monroe-Woodbury is 0-4 after a 21-6 loss to Minisink Valley.
  • Wallkill at FDR — Wallkill is coming off a 33-0 shutout of Monticello. FDR is trying to answer after a 34-7 loss to Valley Central.
  • Beacon at New Paltz — Beacon is 4-0 after surviving Marlboro 12-6. New Paltz was tied with Saugerties at halftime before falling 36-14.

More Friday games that matter

Valley Central at Kingston — Friday, October 2, 7:00 PM at Dietz Stadium. The Vikings enter 3-1 after beating FDR 34-7. Kingston is 2-2 after a 31-20 loss to Lourdes. This is another test of the order behind Middletown and Newburgh in Class AA.

Cornwall at Minisink Valley arrives with both teams coming off very different Fridays. Cornwall was shut out by Newburgh, while Minisink sent Monroe-Woodbury to 0-4. The programs split the last two Class A section finals: Cornwall rallied from 19 down to win 27-26 in 2024, and Minisink answered 24-21 in 2025. At 1-3, Cornwall has little room to drift. Washingtonville at Goshen gives the 3-1 Wizards a shot at a 4-0 Goshen team that just kept the Spirit Trophy. Our Lady of Lourdes at Warwick, Dover at Highland and Rondout Valley at James I. O’Neill all carry ranking and class implications.

The 8-Man board also continues Friday with Pawling at Pine Plains/Rhinebeck, Millbrook at Taconic Hills and Fallsburg at Eldred.

Saturday closes the week

Saturday’s current slate is Poughkeepsie at Burke Catholic, Marlboro at Red Hook, Port Jervis at Saugerties, Spackenkill at Chester Academy, Ellenville at Onteora, Rockland Central at Tri-Valley and Sullivan West at Cairo-Durham.

That gives Week 4 a little of everything: undefeated teams protecting starts, programs trying to stabilize after difficult losses, and early October games that will start separating contenders from the middle of the pack.

KOT845 will keep the board updated all week.
