Goshen Is 4–0. Washingtonville Is Coming in Hot. Week 4 Gets a Real Test.

Goshen is 4-0 and has allowed only 13 points over its last three games. Washingtonville is 3-1 after putting 42 on Pine Bush.

Goshen has survived close games, won a shutout and kept the Spirit Trophy. Washingtonville has already won three times and just put 42 points on Pine Bush.

On Friday night, those two starts collide.

Washingtonville travels to Goshen on October 2 for one of the most interesting Week 4 games in Class A.

Goshen has kept finding a way

The Gladiators are 4-0 after beating Warwick 12-6 to retain the Spirit Trophy. Their season has included a 28-27 opening win, a 12-7 victory over Kingston, a 41-0 shutout of Monticello and Saturday’s six-point rivalry win.

The most important trend is on defense. Goshen has allowed just 13 points over its last three games. That gives the Gladiators a chance to stay in control even when the offense is not producing a huge number.

Washingtonville answered its one bad night

Washingtonville is 3-1. The Wizards opened with wins over Our Lady of Lourdes and Monroe-Woodbury, then took a 48-12 loss at Newburgh.

They responded the next week by scoring 42 against Pine Bush.

That response matters. Washingtonville did not let one lopsided loss turn into two. The Wizards scored 35 in the first half against Pine Bush and answered again after the Bushmen cut the margin to seven in the third quarter.

Different strengths, same opportunity

Goshen has been winning with defense and composure. Washingtonville has shown it can create explosive scoring stretches.

For Goshen, Week 4 is another chance to protect a perfect start and answer the question behind its ranking: can the Gladiators produce enough offense against one of Class A’s top teams? Their defense has carried close wins over Kingston and Warwick, but Washingtonville’s 42-point response against Pine Bush presents a different pace. For Washingtonville, now No. 1 in KOT845’s Class A rankings, this is a chance to defend that position against an unbeaten opponent. A win would carry more weight than simply holding serve against the schedule.
