October 15–17, 2026: All 21 games are final. The seventh football weekend brought head-to-head answers at the top of AA, B and Class A.

Middletown answered Newburgh on the field. Port Jervis stopped Beacon’s unbeaten start. Then Cornwall and Lourdes spent Saturday trading touchdowns and the lead before the Dragons finished a 43–41 winner. Week 6 gave the top of Section IX more than another round of arguments: it gave us direct results between teams that had been waiting to settle them.

Cornwall wins the finish

Cornwall trailed Lourdes 34–29 after three quarters and outscored the Warriors 14–7 in the fourth to win 43–41. The Dragons are 4–3; Lourdes is 5–2. Cornwall’s record had already supplied plenty of debate. This time, the Dragons supplied the head-to-head result.

Aidan Russo affected the game on both sides of the ball. His late first-half interception set up Sage Caesar’s touchdown pass to Gabe Colsant with six seconds left before halftime. Cornwall kicked the extra point to trail 22–21. In the fourth, Russo broke a long touchdown run to extend Cornwall’s lead to 43–34. Lourdes scored once more with a minute left, but the final stayed 43–41.

Caesar also ran for a touchdown after a big play by Jayon Robinson to put Cornwall back in front in the third quarter. Lourdes responded, then turned an interception into a Boden Bickel touchdown for a 34–29 lead. The Warriors missed two-point attempts after reaching 22, 28 and 34 points. In a two-point game, those attempts belong in the explanation, but so does Cornwall’s fourth-quarter response.

Middletown answers the biggest AA question

Middletown beat Newburgh Free Academy 32–22 after trailing 22–19 with 1:43 remaining. The unbeaten Middies now own the direct result against Newburgh. That matters more than trying to compare every common opponent or explain away a difficult stretch in a different game.

The rest of Friday’s AA board matters, too. Valley Central beat Monroe-Woodbury 12–7, and Pine Bush beat Kingston 34–20 in KOT845’s reporting. The rankings discussion and playoff standings still need to be treated separately: a head-to-head win is evidence for one and an input to the qualifying rules for the other.

Port Jervis ends Beacon’s perfect start

Port Jervis won 24–14 after trailing Beacon 8–7 at halftime. Beacon’s 6–0 start is over, and Port has the result from their first meeting this season. A second meeting is something to watch for, not something to announce as settled.

Beacon’s scoring had demanded attention entering the game. Port held the Bulldogs to 14 points and won the second half 17–6. That is the football reason to revisit the comparison, rather than treating the result as a surprise only because one team arrived unbeaten.

Goshen keeps winning; Burke stays perfect

Goshen beat Wallkill 38–16 to reach 6–1. The Gladiators led 22–8 at halftime and 38–8 with three minutes remaining. JP Sullivan’s seven-yard touchdown run was part of the first-half push. Wallkill is 3–4.

Burke Catholic took a 21–0 lead on Senior Day and finished off Rondout Valley 35–8. The Eagles are 7–0; Rondout is 2–5. Burke’s unbeaten record is an overall-season statement. This cross-classification result is not a qualifying Class D win.

First wins and eight-man results

Warwick shut out FDR 26–0 for its first victory of the season. Fallsburg’s first win arrived a day later, a 58–0 shutout at Rockland Central that moved the Comets to 1–6. These were important afternoons for teams that had spent the first six games searching for a win.

Eldred beat Taconic Hills 50–24 to reach 4–2, and Onteora won 28–24 at Corinth Central to get back to 3–3. Friday’s eight-man results included Pawling’s 42–8 win over Ellenville and Sullivan West’s 38–8 victory over Tri-Valley.

Washingtonville–Minisink Valley

Washingtonville beat Minisink Valley 41–7 to improve to 6–1. Minisink falls to 2–5. Bryce Tesseyman’s touchdown reception put Washingtonville ahead 13–0 before Mason Luciano returned the ensuing kickoff for Minisink’s touchdown. The Wizards led 20–7 at halftime, then added 21 unanswered points after the break. Kalin Barnes scored to make it 27–7 with 1:43 left in the third quarter.

New Paltz–Red Hook

Red Hook beat New Paltz 36–12 in the last game of the weekend. The Raiders move to 3–4; New Paltz is 1–6. Red Hook visits Saugerties next, while New Paltz heads to Marlboro—two games that feed directly into the remaining Class B race.
