Thursday opens with Monticello’s winning streak, Class C seeding and a must-win game in eight-man.
Monticello is trying to turn two wins into a real run. Dover and O’Neill have already punched their playoff tickets, but their Class C business is not finished. Millbrook and Pine Plains/Rhinebeck both have a response to make after losses.
Week 6 opens with three games on Thursday, October 15. Here is the question that makes each one worth following.
3:30 p.m. — Monticello at Saugerties
Can Monticello make the turnaround travel?
The Panthers opened with four losses and no points. Then came a 24–22 win over Liberty and a 22–8 win at Poughkeepsie. Monticello is 2–4, with 46 points across its last two games and something it did not have at the beginning of October: consecutive results to build on.
Those wins count. So does the context. Liberty and Poughkeepsie were different assignments from the teams Monticello faced during its opening stretch. Thursday is the next test of whether the improvement carries into another matchup, not proof that every earlier problem has disappeared.
Saugerties is coming off a 49–6 loss to Beacon and has its own reason to respond. Monticello cannot let the Sawyers’ last result do the preparation for it. The practical test is whether the Panthers can keep producing scoring possessions while avoiding a game that asks their offense to chase too large a deficit.
A third consecutive win would make this more than a pair of isolated bright spots. For Saugerties, stopping that run would give the Sawyers a result to build around instead of another week spent discussing the last loss.

6:30 p.m. — Dover at O’Neill
They are both in. How they enter the playoffs is still worth playing for.
Dover beat Rondout Valley 28–12. O’Neill beat Spackenkill 35–14. Those results secured both teams’ Class C playoff places alongside Highland. Thursday is not an elimination game, and the loser does not lose its playoff spot.
The qualifying records explain the stakes: O’Neill is 2–0 in Class C games; Dover is 2–1. A Dover win moves the Dragons to 3–1 and O’Neill to 2–1. An O’Neill win puts the Raiders at 3–0 and the Dragons at 2–2. Final seeding still depends on the remaining qualifying results and applicable tiebreakers.
There is an editorial argument here, too. Our October 11 class rankings have Dover second and O’Neill third. That is a different measure from the qualifying standings. Thursday supplies direct evidence for the rankings conversation and a result that counts in the actual race.
Dover answered its 31–14 loss to Highland by beating Rondout. O’Neill has allowed eight and 14 points in its last two played games, both wins. The question is whether Dover can turn its response into another strong result, or whether O’Neill can carry that scoring resistance into this matchup.

7 p.m. — Pine Plains/Rhinebeck at Millbrook
Pine Plains/Rhinebeck must win to stay in the playoff race.
The Bombers enter 0–2 in eight-man Division 2. A loss tonight eliminates them in KOT845’s qualification calculation. Millbrook/Webutuck is 1–1; a win tonight, followed by an Ellenville win at Pawling on Friday, secures the Blazers a place. A win alone does not settle Millbrook’s status.
Millbrook comes in after a 28–8 loss to Ellenville. Pine Plains/Rhinebeck scored 32 against Tri-Valley but allowed 46. Both lost, but the questions coming out of those games are different.
Millbrook needs a more productive offensive night than the one it just had. Pine Plains/Rhinebeck needs enough stops to make its own scoring matter. The Bombers’ 32 points are a reason not to dismiss their offense; the 46 allowed are a reason not to treat that offense as the entire answer.
This is the late game to keep open after Dover–O’Neill kicks off. One team gets an immediate opportunity to replace last week’s disappointment with a result that moves its season forward.
