The arrival of Section IX 8-Man football and Cornwall’s back-to-back Class A state championships.
2018
Champions: Newburgh (AA), Cornwall (A), Marlboro (B), Chester (C), Tri-Valley (8-Man). Cornwall beat West Seneca East 21–14 for the Class A state title; Marlboro reached a state semifinal. Tri-Valley won the inaugural Section IX 8-Man title and lost its state regional 38–36.
2019
Champions: Pine Bush (AA), Cornwall (A), Port Jervis (B), Chester (C), Ellenville (8-Man). Cornwall beat Carthage 30–27 for a second straight Class A state championship; Port Jervis fell 8–7 in the Class B semifinal. Ellenville won its 8-Man state regional.
Data integrity note: the 2019 source includes multiple Middletown wins later recorded as forfeits because of an ineligible player. KOT845 preserves that distinction rather than presenting the on-field score as the official result without context.
